

Charles A. Lindsey, Sr., 98, of Chattanooga died peacefully at home Friday, September 13, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born July 1, 1921 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Eleanor Slayton Lindsey and Frank Alan Lindsey. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Batterham Lindsey.
Mr. Lindsey attended Central High School, Baylor School, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, and McKenzie Law College.
He served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Petty Officer, special assignment to (NOLEF) with the highest security clearance during WWII.
Mr. Lindsey worked with Lindsey/Davis General Contractors as a junior partner. He was president of Lindsey Construction Company, Inc.; President of Cherokee Construction Company, Inc. He was a financial consultant to Rosotti Developers, Pinellas Park, Tampa, Florida. They built in excess of 10,000 low cost all masonry homes, these affordable architecturally designed homes were built using top quality materials, turnkey on fifty foot lots, with all utilities underground, with paved walks and gutters, and paved streets – fast track. Rosotti received the National Homebuilders Award of that year, presented in California by Loren Green, from the TV show, Bonanza.
He traveled to Australia with an entourage to present technology and a financial plan i.e. at that time Australia had no S&L or any type of mass homebuilding financing program, however; P.P.D. Johnson of Sidney were the underwriters of such a new program.
Mr. Lindsey traveled several years throughout Europe, the Mid-East, Africa, Far East, Central and South America with Sir Edmond Simmons, international private banking, structuring major developments. Partnered with “Bob” Baker, principle with BS&B of the Netherlands, who were funders, designers, and developers of numerous worldwide projects in Africa, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Emirates. When Khomeini came to power the Shah left all projects in Iran were closed down, whereby BS&B immediately ordered to leave within 72 hours. He was a consultant to mini-million dollar cement plant in Bangalore, India and a partner in Air India located in Delhi plus he was also the owner of Georgia Air and Georgia air Freight of Atlanta, Georgia.
He assisted in developing and marketing a proven Fuel less Engine which operated using CO2 as a fuel source (CO2 being generated when the vehicle is in operation. He developed a secondary oil and gas recovery system which proved to be economically worthy in bringing unproductive and older marginal wells back on line as producers. He received the International Hall of Fame award in 1995 for advanced technology. He developed Beta Isotope IRREDIATOR, other patents pending.
He served as an Acolyte at Grace Episcopal Church for several years and later became a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Ellington Lindsey; daughter and son-in-law, Gaye and Edward DeMars; son, Charles “Ted” Lindsey; and granddaughter, Taylor Lindsey of North Georgia; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Blake Alan and Kelly Warren Lindsey; great grandson, Calan Keller Lindsey and great granddaughter, Catri Ellington Lindsey of Jacksonville, Florida, Florida.
It was Mr. Lindsey’s wish to be cremated and buried at sea.
