Charles E. (Nick) Nichols, Sr., 74, of Hixson passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, December 29. He was born April 23, 1937 to Allen and Ruth Nichols. He was a graduate of Hixson High School and retired from Chattanooga Glass Company.
Nick is preceded in death by his father, Allen Nichols, sister, Emily Wheeler and infant son, Anthony Nichols.
Survivors are his mother, Mary Ruth Gravitt Nichols; brother, Jack Nichols of Rossville, GA; son, Chuck (Kim) Nichols, daughter, Angela (Michael) Layne. PaPaw Nick is survived by his four grandchildren, Cassie, Kyle and Cory Nichols and Brandon Layne, who all enjoyed a magical childhood thanks to his many adventures with each of them.
The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Minister John Cupp officiating.
