Charlie C. Thompson Jr.

Charlie C. Thompson Jr., age 98, of Chattanooga, TN went home to be with the Lord on March 18, 2026. He was a hard-working, devoted husband and father who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Born in Chattanooga, TN on May 3, 1927, Charlie attended college in Mississippi. After meeting his wife, Betty, in Louisiana, Charles and Betty moved to Tennessee in 1954 to make Chattanooga their home.

Charlie was a Navy Veteran and later retired from TVA after many years of service.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Jean Duchesne Thompson; his son, Charles “Clint” C. Thompson III; and two siblings.

Survivors include his daughters, Jan Thompson and Lisa (Jim) Stanley; and grandchildren, Bill Weske and Morgan Weske.

A private pilot, Charlie’s biggest passion was flying his own plane, a Cessna 172. He was a member of the Chattanooga Flyers Club and enjoyed many activities at the Collegedale Airport.

Charlie was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:30 pm on Monday, March 23, 2026 in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A private graveside will be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
