Daniel Thomas McFarlan, 98, of Signal Mountain, died Thursday, April 21 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Sue McFarlan, his parents, Edwin and Bertha McFarlan, grandson, Brian Locklear, and his sister, Jean Hoffman.
He was a member of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. He was retired from TVA, after many years of service as an electrical engineer. He enjoyed sailing, square dancing and golf. He also repaired hundreds of clocks for his friends and neighbors.
Mr. McFarlan was instrumental in the Chattanooga Music Club’s restoration of the Memorial Auditorium’s Austin Organ. He spent years removing the individual pipes, restoring, and cleaning each one.
Survivors include his four daughters, Martha (Jim) Fugate, Penny (Edward) Masuoka, Sally (Robert) Locklear, and Linda (Bill) Triplett, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 Monday, April 25 at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Reverend Scott Bowen officiating.
