He was born in Chattanooga, on Feb. 23, 1950. David graduated from Red Bank High School in 1968. He attended Georgia Tech University before enlisting in the Navy in 1971 serving until 1973. He received a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Business Administration from University of Tennessee Chattanooga. His career comprised of considerable time at Tennessee Valley Authority and Ikon Office Solutions.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Doris A. Barker, Robert B. Barker; and son, Robert A. Barker. He is survived by his son Andrew, daughter Cheryl, daughter Jennifer (Andrew), two grandchildren Preston and Blakely; sister Beverly Murray (Bill), sister Leslie Ryon (Mike), brother Bob Barker (Sandy).
His family would like to thank the staff of Regency House Assisted Living in Hixson, and Gentiva Hospice for the compassionate and diligent care they provided David in his final days. 2 Corinthians 5:8.
A service will be held on Saturday, April 8, at 3 p.m. at Chattanooga Memorial Park Cemetery (Duck Pond).
