Born and raised in Chattanooga, David split his time between his hometown and Cullman, Alabama, where he owned and operated Zeal Communications. He took great pride in his work in fiber optics and treasured the community of colleagues and customers he built along the way.
David was a man of deep faith. His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was at the center of his life. He was funny, generous, and caring, and he never met a stranger. He never quit on anything or anyone, and those who knew him will remember his humor and his big heart.
His other great passion was Santa's Workshop, the nonprofit he founded to bring joy to children.
David was preceded in death by his father, Marlon Massengale; his mother, Mildred Massengale; his brother, Robert Houston; and his son, Aaron Massengale.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Massengale; his daughters, Stephanie Cranfill, Tiffany Hood (Blake), and Victoria Benton; his sons, Captain Charles Mooney III (Mandy) and Brian Massengale (Sherry); his grandchildren Jaiden Wilson, Camdyn Cranfill, and Destanie "Babygirl" Wilson (Jalil Dalton); Angela Lovett (sister wife); Barry Garner (brother in Christ); and several other grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
"David's favorite time of year was Christmas. If you'd like, wear a touch of red, green, or a favorite holiday piece to honor him. Come as you are; your presence is what matters most."
