David E. Newton

David was born May 6, 1944 in Chattanooga, Tennessee the son of Mervin F. and Essie (Garrett) Newton. He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Memphis with a degree in Pharmacy. He retired from Erlanger Hospital after 21 years of service. He also worked for Bi-Lo Pharmacies in Chattanooga until he retired due to Illness in 2002. David was an alumni of OLPH and Notre Dame High School.

David was a member of OLPH church. He was a compassionate husband and father and was a dedicated friend. He had a wealth of knowledge and he read fervently. He had an amazing gift of memory which he shared with all who knew him or spoke with him.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Dodd Newton, whom he married June 19, 1971; daughter, Melanie Ann Newton, of Chattanooga, sister, Martha Jane Newton, of Delaware, niece, Katie Baukin of Virginia and Jack Baukin of Delaware.

There will be a graveside service for immediate family on Sunday, November 17, 2012 at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Wayland Stewart officiating.
