He was born on October 30, 1950 in Walker County. He graduated from Trion High School in 1968 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting at Berry College in Rome, Georgia. Dewey was an Army Veteran and served in Germany during his tour of duty.
He was a well-known and respected Certified Public Accountant in the Chattanooga area since 1978 and was a member and chairman of several committees for the AICPA. He owned his own accounting firm, Mann & Miller, located in Hixson, TN.
Dewey loved fishing, especially his adventurous fishing trips to Alaska. He was an avid Alabama football fan and wore red any chance he got. He loved spending time with his two granddaughters and enjoyed traveling, especially seeing the National Parks with the love of his life.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lester Dewey Mann, and his mother, Clara Odessa Mann.
Dewey is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Janie Norton Mann; daughter and son-in-law, Natalie and Steve Faulkner; granddaughters, Brylee and Kinsley; brother, Glenn Mann; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and John Tucker; mother-in-law, Eloise Norton; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cathie and Dean Myers; brother-in-law, Scott Norton; along with several nieces and nephews, cousins and many extended family and dear friends who were all very special to him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, July 18 at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel in Hixson, TN at 1 p.m. The family will be receiving friends from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, July 17 at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Brain Tumor Society.
