Donald was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi to Otis Grady and Ethel Keith Flanigan. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Donald served two terms in the United States Navy. He trained the gunners on the PT109 Boat and was on the USS Benningtons Pistol Team competing around the world.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents Otis Grady and Ethel Keith Flanigan; brother Otis Grady Flanigan, Jr.; sister Thelma Flanigan Smith.
His survivors include is wife of 53 years Alene Tate Flanigan; two sons Donnie (Priscilla) Flanigan and Patrick (Michelle) Flanigan; one daughter Kellye (Richard) Cooper; one stepson Harold ( Doris) Folkner; two step daughters Jennye ( Tommy) Lawrence and Gloria (John) Saft; 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew who loved him as a Father.
The family will receive friends 5 pm until 7pm on Thursday at the Chattanooga Funeral Home- North Chapel, and from 11 am until the service on Friday.
The funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 pm in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow to the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Navy Military Honors
