Donald E. Haughton, age 75 passed away peacefully at his Pennsylvania resident on February 11, 2025. His friends were present to love him and say goodbye as Don was sent to prepare for his last flight back to Tennessee.
Don and his twin brother, Ron, graduated as track stars from Morristown High School, Morristown, Tennessee in 1968. Earning a scholarship to ETSU he continued his track until his country called him to duty.
Don proudly served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and tried to make the most of his overseas experiences and travel. Upon returning he continued his education at University of Tennessee, graduating with Bachelor of Arts Degree where watercolors became his passion. He used his talent to paint beautiful land, desert and sea scapes. His cityscapes captured the low light ambience of an evening stroll passing café's and bistros.
Don was kind, generous, loving and faithfully devoted to family, friends, his art and the UT Vols. Rest in peace, you will be dearly missed!
Don was preceded in death by his father, James D. Haughton, step-dad, William Harrison Beene, Jr., and oldest brother, James D. Haughton, Jr.
Don is survived by his mother, Bettye L. Beene; brothers, William Todd Haughton (Catherine), twin brother, Ronald E. Haughton, William Harrison "Sonny" Beene, III (Sonya) and sister, Sheryle "Sherry" Haughton Crowe (Rodney).
During his 32 years in Pennsylvania he developed loving friend families including Marta (Abel) and sons, Gabriel, Angel, and Nubia with daughters Diana, Milagros, Lidya, Nubia and neighbor Kenny B. who shared in football and basketball. The neighborhood liars club "Ken said Don was not a good liar" but he sure did enjoy laughing with all the others.
A private graveside service will be held for family and friends at 1:30 pm on Friday, February 21, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
