

Formerly of Scottsboro, Al. Doris was a retired teacher of 33 years in the Scottsboro and Jackson County School systems. She was a graduate of the Samford University, Birmingham, Al.
A member of Calvary Baptist Church, Scottsboro for more than 50 years, she became an active member of Red Bank Baptist Church in 2005.
Miss Matthews was preceded in death by her parents C.H. and Nell Proctor Matthews and brothers Proctor and James H. Matthews.
She is survived by a sister Rena(James H.) Anderson, a brother Jerry (Carroll) Matthews, sisters-in-law Lois(York) Matthews and Doris(Parker) Matthews, and several Nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel from 10:30 am until the time of service.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11:30 am in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jerry T. Matthews officiating
Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Scottsboro, Alabama
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doris’s name to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at the Red Bank Baptist Church or Calvary Baptist Church in Scottsboro, Alabama
