Dorothy Ann Kohut, age 80, passed from this life to her eternal home in heaven on June 1, 2023, in Hixson, Tennessee, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born August 20, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Robert and Ann Faulkner. Her early years were spent in the Mantua/Garrettsville area and in Cleveland, where she met her husband Burton and started her family. They raised their children mainly in rural Wisconsin and also enjoyed living in Denver, Colorado before returning to Ohio later in life.
Dorothy was a 1960 graduate of Crestwood High School in Mantua and was married in St. Ambrose church in Garrettsville in1967. She had a lifelong faith in Jesus and was always quick to reassure that “the Lord provides.” She loved the beauty of nature, working for hours in her yard and garden, and enjoying lively gatherings with family and friends.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Burton of 55 years, her daughter Kimberley (John) Axiotis of Hixson, TN, her son David (Jill) Kohut of Colorado Springs, CO, and her granddaughters Lauren and Rebekah, as well as her brothers Robert (Nancy) Faulkner of St. James, NC, Donald Faulkner of Eugene, OR and sisters Martha (Frank) Lorence of Diamond, OH, Carol Faulkner (Bill Wall) of Yreka, CA and Cheryl Faulkner of Eugene, OR. She was preceded in death by her brother, Roger Faulkner.
A memorial service honoring both Dorothy and Burton will be held in the Garrettsville area at a later time.
