Obituary of Douglas Michael Whitaker
IN THE CARE OF

Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist-North Chapel and Hamilton Memorial Gardens

Douglas M. Whitaker passed away on May 29, 2026, and entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior.

Born in Dayton, Ohio, Doug was a proud graduate of Northmont High School. He later made his home in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he earned a degree in Chemistry from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and built a life rooted in family, friendship, and entrepreneurship.

Doug possessed a remarkable entrepreneurial spirit and successfully built two thriving businesses throughout his career. One highlighted his expertise and creativity within the cosmetic and fragrance industry, while the other reflected his love for the outdoors through the RV campground and boating world. His determination, vision, and work ethic left a lasting impact on all who knew and worked alongside him.

A passionate sports enthusiast , Doug was a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, a loyal supporter of the Tennessee Titans, and a proud follower of the UTC Mocs. These teams represented the communities and experiences that shaped his life and brought him countless hours of enjoyment.

Above all, Doug’s greatest joy was his family. He was a loving and devoted father of three, a proud Papa of four and a loyal friend. He treasured every opportunity to bring family and friends together, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. Known for his heartfelt speeches, quick wit, and ability to make everyone in the room laugh-and often cry-Doug had a gift for making people feel valued and loved.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, John G. Whitaker and his niece, Shawna M. Whitaker both of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories through his mother, Marguerite “Cookie” Whitaker; his children, Mandy Whitaker-Clements, Dougie Whitaker, and Samantha (Daniel) Rawn; his brother, Mike Whitaker; his sisters, Peggy Whitaker and Patti (Don) Haynes; his beloved grandchildren, Layla, Canyon, Noble, and Abel; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Though his presence will be profoundly missed, his love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tennessee 37343.
