

Duane Meredith Mounce, a selfless and kind-hearted man, passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 84. He was a resident of Selmer, Tennessee, at the time of his passing. Born on March 27, 1941, in Batavia, Ohio, Duane was the youngest of four siblings and grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. During his youth, he played high school basketball, showcasing his early passion for sports.
Duane dedicated 40 years of his life to General Electric, where he retired as a supervisor. He was known for being hard-working and devoted to his career. Outside of work, Duane enjoyed riding motorcycles, golfing, playing basketball, and traveling extensively with his wife. The couple spent winters in Florida, where Duane rode his bike daily.
He was married for over 60 years and was a devoted husband, father to three children, and a generous family man. The family shared many memorable moments on camping trips, fishing trips, and cruises. Duane also contributed to his community by coaching baseball and football, leaving a lasting impact on many young lives.
Duane was a loyal and unconditional friend to many, and his legacy will be cherished by all who knew him.
Here to continue Duane's legacy is his wife, Lois Upchurch Mounce; children, Kevin (Janice) Mounce, Steve (Stacy) Mounce, and Jill (Michael) Sams; grandchildren, Bradley (Kaley) Mounce, Tyler (Meghan) Mounce, Kristen Mounce, Nicholas Mounce, Samuel Mounce, Sarah Beth Mounce, Lauren (James) Bullock, Taylor (Austin) Ball, Blake (Avery) Sams, and Meredith Sams; great-grandchildren, Braxton Mounce, Kayden Mounce, Braison Mounce, Bronx McCroskey, and Forrest Ball; and sister, Dorcas (Frank) York.
Visitation will be held at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel, located at 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN, on November 28, 2025, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. A graveside service will follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park, 501 Memorial Drive, Chattanooga, TN, at 2:00 pm.
Duane's kind-hearted and generous nature will be remembered fondly by those whose lives he touched.
