Elizabeth "Betty" Day

Elizabeth “Betty” Day, age 92, of Hixson, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022. She was born in Rhea County, to the late Bud and Estella Smith. Betty retired from Kroger Corporation as a Bookkeeper and Head Cashier. She was a former member of Middle Valley Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and then was a longtime member of Community Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Darla Olvey, Debbie and Cindy Hamilton; brothers, J.C. “Lucky” Smith and Bill Smith. Betty is survived by her husband of 62 years, John L. Day; sons, Brett (Barbara) Hamilton and Barry Hamilton; grandchildren, Tami (Bill) Friar, John Olvey, Larissa Hamilton and Brettney (Anthony) Williams; 5 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brother, Robert “Bob” Smith; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 pm on Friday, August 5 and 10 to 11 am on Saturday, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A Celebration of Betty’s life will follow at 11 am on Saturday at the North Chapel with . Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
