Frances Hayes

Frances F. Fulghum Edwards Hayes, 82, of Chattanooga died Thursday, Ma y 26, 2016 at her home. She was born April 3, 1934 in Trenton, Georgia to the late Herman W. and Mattie Harp Fulghum. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald K. Hayes, sisters Grace Sims and Gladys Brown, brother, William Edwards Fulghum.

She attended Dade High School in Trenton. She was retired form Erlanger Medical Center after 36 years of service.

She accepted Christ as her savior at an early age. She moved to Chattanooga, where she married the love of her life, Donald K. Hayes. They were married for 56 years.

She was a long time member of Lupton Drive Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Daniel A Edwards, one granddaughter, Cheryl Femrite; great grandson, Thomas Morris, III; great granddaughters, Sade’ Edwards and Cheyenne Seifert; and a very dedicated friend for over 60 years, Etta Myers; one sister-in-law, Lorene Sample; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

She was the big sister to Shelia M. Shropshire Horton who became a very good friend and very dedicated caregiver and also Melissa Carrillo and Tara Wright.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 31 at 11:30 in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 Monday evening.

The family would like to thank Becky and Kimberly, her CNA’s and Katie Lord, her nurse and the entire staff of Avalon Hospice for the service they rendered.
