Upon graduation from High School in Manchester, New Hampshire, Fred enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17. He quickly rose up the ranks as a “black shoe” to Master Chief Electronic Technician when he was selected for the limited duty office program. He served aboard two ships which retrieved the Gemini capsules. He and his family enjoyed Rota, Spain and Honolulu, Hawaii.
Civilian life for him was proudly watching his two sons marry wonderful women and having successful careers.
Fred was born in Woodsville, New Hampshire to the late Laura and Kenneth Chandler. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Ethel Chandler; two sons Donald (Susan) and Jeff (Marian) Chandler. two sisters Donna Baden and Denise ( Arthur) Streeter.
Fred wishes were to be cremated and with no services. He will be laid to rest in the National Cemetery, St. Petersburg, Florida.
