Freeman England, 90, of Signal Mountain died peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends, Wednesday, February 23, 2022. He was born May 19, 1931 in Molton, Alabama to the late Walter and Bertha Mae England. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Dorcas England, and 10 siblings.
He was a member of the Brick and Tile Layers union, in Chicago, Illinois. After his retirement in the 1990s, he and his wife moved to Signal Mountain to be near family.
Mr. England loved the outdoors, where until recently grew a garden and shared the bounty with his friends and neighbors. He loved listening to his old country music on his record player.
Survivors include his daughters, Shelia England, and Andrea (Jeff) Wright, grandchildren, Charles England, Steven Wright, and Kevin Wright, and a sister, Pauline Howard.
Funeral services will be 2:00 Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Reverend Glenn Edmonds officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12-2 Tuesday.
