Dear Carolyn,
We would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation for knowing George A. Grant during the years we were involved with your family. Some things that stand out were,
1. The times that we visited with June and George in Elmhurst, Mattoon, Buffalo NY as your family was growing up - George got close to some trains in Central Illinois near Mattoon and Elmhurst with trips to Electromotive in McCook.
2. I remember the trips to Oshkosh, WI and the visit to the Experimental Aircraft Association meet - Lake Winnebago was a nice side attraction there, also. George was a very good guide in that instance and had much know how there.
3. I remember how we discussed buying that Ford Pinto car at the Highland Park dealer and then George bought it - I did not like the salesman who made some “cute comments” about Lois during that sale and his promise of a $25 reward if George bought it? We never got that $ 25?
4. The trips we made to visit with your family in Chattanooga were fun as George took us to see the Chattanooga Choo-Choo, the trains, the aquarium and especially the electric trolley and TVA's battery research facility.
5. It was also interesting visiting the Sequoyah Nuclear plant of TVA and the sewer plant of Chattanooga that George helped arrange.

6. His devotion to your Mom - June was very impressive due to their 50+ years together and his unfailing love throughout their life - that was impressive as I hope to emulate that also with our marriage. He cared so much for her. I can remember him counting out her weekly pills and he gave her her shots that she needed every day.
7. I(Lois) and Howard remember George's hardy laugh. Especially when He was with his brother, and his mom and dad. That was a powerful sound. It would shake the whole house.
8. Howard enjoyed visiting June and George when they lived in Wisconsin on Lake Winnebago. He remembers swimming in the lake Winnebago.
9. Howard remembers George's love of trains and his dream of being a long haul cross country truck driver in one of those 18 wheelers-from sea to sea?
10.I(Lois) remember George's love of animals, especially cats. I remember kleinschmidt, the mean cat his parent's had; even this cat George seemed to like. I remember how he loved Princess, his cat. He tell her how pretty she was.
11.Etc., etc. etc.......... He will be missed,

Uncle George...what a great man. I have many wonderful memories of family gatherings and some great old family photos that I will always cherish. He had such a wonderful sense of humor and was so kind. He's in Heaven with Uncle Don and Mom and the others who have gone before, and I can imagine that there's a lot of laughter going on up there today.

I have an email box on my computer full of great emails that Uncle George would send out. Everyday there would be a new series of cartoons, cute videos, and new jokes. I was always amazed at the variety of wonderful things that he found to share.

Geroge Allen Grant is a distant relative. His father, Allen, was the brother of my grandfather, David Grant. I am Roderick M Grant, Jr. I am a retired Prof of Physics. My sister, Nancy Grant Harvey, lives in Chattanooga and informed me of Geroge's passing. Needless to say, we had no idea that he was living in Hixon. I live 1/2 year in Estes Park, CO and the other half year (now) inear Phoenix, AZ
