On Tuesday afternoon, June 9, 2020, heaven gained a beautiful angel. H. Grady Jacoway III, age 63, died unexpectedly at his home after a short illness. Grady dearly loved his family and especially his nephews and niece. Grady is now hearing all the music that heaven provides and the words of the Lord without any assistance.
Born without his sense of hearing, Grady never let this get in the way of accomplishing his goals or used it for an excuse in any capacity. Grady graduated from The Bright School in 1969, The McCallie School in 1976, and then from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he obtained a degree in Business Administration. While at UTK, he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and became a Vol for Life. He had a long professional career at McKee Baking, Cigna and Mountain Management Services.
He was a collector of vintage Lincoln Continental cars and parts and was listed in Hemmings Motor News as the number one go to person in the country for antique Lincoln parts. The Ford family often contacted Grady for some antique Lincoln car parts which they needed and could only obtain through him. He was subsequently recognized and honored by the Ford Motor Co. for his knowledge and expertise with restoring 1959 Lincoln Continentals. He loved and attended many vintage auto shows as well as collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia. He was well liked in everything he was involved in.
Described by many friends and classmates as one who was quiet, genuine and always seeing the best in every situation. One was quoted as saying, “He knew how to make lemonade out of lemons”. He was a faithful attendee of his McCallie Class of 1976 “Klein-time” monthly gatherings held in honor of a heroic deceased classmate
Grady was supportive and loving and will be dearly missed. Rest in peace, Grady. We love you.
