

Howard C. Bowman, Sr., 82, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away Friday night, October 1, 2010 at his residence. Born and raised in Chattanooga, he was a resident of Graysville Mountain for 32 years before moving back to Chattanooga. A Veteran of W.W. II, serving in the U.S. Navy, he was retired from TVA as an Electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local #175. He was the son of the late Columbus and Beulah Shipley Bowman, and was also preceded in death by two son-in-laws, Stephen King and Charles Bryant. Survivors include his wife, Wilma "Jean" Bowman; three daughters, Carolyn Bryant, Marilyn King and Janice (Thomas) Reeves; son, Howard C. (Rose) Bowman, Jr., all of Chattanooga; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth Baurele, Apison, TN, Virginia Lankford, Robbins, TN and Melvia (C.L.) Brumlow, Chattanooga; brother, Victor (Judie) Bowman, Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Darrell Davenport officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Eric and David King, Aaron Bryant, Matt Reeves, Nephews, Phil Newby and Doug Brumlow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 5401 Highway 153.
