She was born on April 3, 1922 in Rosenberg, Germany to the late Leo and Elizabeth Janda. In 1955, Ilse and Normann moved to the United States. She was a faithful member at St. Jude Catholic Church and was a German Instructor at Combustion Engineering for several years.
Omi was the matriarch of the family. She had a gift for hospitality and was a tremendous Hostess and chef. She loved to cook and was most famous for her rouladen, dumplings and martzipan nougat cake. She will be greatly missed by so many.
Survivors include her loving husband of 72 years Normann Sprinz; son, Thomas Sprinz, daughter, Ilona (Clayton) Ray; granddaughter, Katie (Drew) Reed; great- grandsons, Xavier, Ethan and Theo Reed; granddaughter, Jennifer Hennesey; grandson, Derek (Cara) Sprinz; great- grandchildren, Ceilidh, Evan and Emily Sprinz; grandson, Matthew (Reese Anna) Cummins; great- grandson, Charlie Cummins; grandson, Luke (Skye) Sprinz; great-grandchildren, Sophie and Paxton Sprinz, Brayden Walker and grandson, Dylan Sprinz.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Monday, February 7, 2022 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 930 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37415.
A funeral service will be held at the church at 11:30 am on Monday, February 7, 2022 with Father Charlie Burton officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial
Gardens.
