To know Iris was to love her - and to probably get beat by her in cards. She always brought a spark and a quick wit to the room. She enjoyed people, had more friends than we can count, and was a faithful friend to others. She loved her family generously, and she looked forward to being reunited with her husband, Albert; her daughter, Jackie; her siblings Gloria, Donald, Ruby, and Gary; and her parents, Grady Jack and Tinie Baker Jack.
Iris was born in Theta, TN, raised on the farm and in church with her family. She exchanged the country for the city, moving to Nashville after high school, starting her family in Knoxville, and making her home for decades in Chattanooga. But always a fan of country ham biscuits, Iris never fully left her country roots. She enjoyed tennis, bridge, bunko, her birthday group, travel group, the Waters Sunday School class at First Baptist of Chattanooga and any other gathering with friends.
Iris will be deeply missed by many, and she will miss sharing stories with her friends, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandson. We trust she’s enjoying herself, teasing her friends, experiencing Jesus face-to-face, and will beat us at cards again soon.
