

Jack Thomas Kinser Sr., age 94, left his earthly home on April 30, 2026, to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born June 12, 1931, to Elmo and Gladys Kinser. In 1953 he married his beautiful bride, Sarah Imogene “Jean” Chauncey Kinser.
He was a 1949 graduate of the McCallie School and a 1953 graduate of the University of Chattanooga with a degree in Business Administration. In 1967 he earned his CPA credential and was admitted to the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants. His employment history included co-op work at Fowler Brothers Furniture Company while in college, 18 years at the Electric Power Board, and 19 years at TVA where he retired as Assistant Branch Chief of Power Accounting.
Jack started playing trumpet at age of 7 and performed in many musical organizations throughout his lifetime including: School Bands, Casale Ensemble, VFW Concert Band, American Legion Dance Band, Scenic City Concert Band, and several professional dance bands. He was also well known as a bugler, always ready and willing to play Taps at the Chattanooga National Cemetery for hundreds of veterans and war casualties.
He joined First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga as a small child and grew up under its Christian leadership. He served as a Deacon for many years, and as church Treasurer from 1969-1980. He and Jean were active members of the “It’s A Wonderful Life” Senior Adult fellowship and enjoyed many trips with this group of friends.
Jack was preceded in death by Jean, his beloved wife of 70 years. He is survived by his son, Tom Kinser (Tisherrie); two granddaughters: Courtney Kristiansen and her daughter Mona; Sydney Kinser and her daughter Wrenley; grandchildren: Cameron Bradshaw (Megan), Kyle Bradshaw (Megan) and Breanna Smartt (Elliott), and nine additional great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his wonderful sister-in-law, Sharon Chauncey, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was well loved by his family.
Visitation will be held from 12:30-2:30, Saturday, May 9 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home in Hixson. The Chapel service will follow at 2:30 with Chris Ehlers officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s or any Christian Charity of your choice.
