James Edward Anderson, Jr., 69, of Soddy Daisy went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 4, 2026, after a courageous 11-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a faithful Servant of God, a devoted husband and father, and beloved Pawpaw, whose love for his family knew no bounds.
James was born October 26, 1956, in Chattanooga, Tennessee and graduated from Red Bank High School, class of 1974. He retired from TVA after more than 30 years of service as an instrument mechanic and was also the owner of Anderson Construction. James was a member of Stuart Heights Baptist Church.
Above all else, James loved the Lord and cherished his friends and family. He was an immensely proud grandfather who never missed an opportunity to share stories and photos of his precious Sydney. He was a passionate Tennessee Vols fan, an avid fisherman, and talented collector and restorer of classic cars.
Known for his strong work ethic and remarkable intelligence, James possessed a natural gift for restoring, rebuilding, or repairing almost anything. Whether helping a friend, working on a project, or spending time with family, he approached life with determination, generosity, and a servant’s heart. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his devotion to those he loved, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.
James was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years Nancy Brady Anderson; his son, James E. Anderson III; and his father, James E. Anderson, Sr.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Kathy (Bob) Lawson; grandchildren, Sydney Lawson, Tyler (Lorissa) Lawson, and Jamie (Sierra) Lawson; his mother, Juanita Elrod Reed; his sister, Benita (Gene) Stamey; and his special friend, Katie Abrash; and many extended family members and dear friends, whose lives were blessed by knowing him.
Though he will be deeply missed, James’s family finds peace and comfort in knowing he is now healed, reunited with loved ones, and rejoicing in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
A celebration of Life will be held at Stuart Heights Baptist Church Chattanooga campus on June 12, 2026. The family will begin receiving friends at 2:00 PM, with a service to follow at 3:15 PM.
“Well done, good and faithful servant” Matthew 25:23.
