James "Tony" Anthony Dobbs

Tony was a graduate of Hixson High School and The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Tony married Lee Ann Eastburn on June 27, 1981 in Hixson, TN. He worked in the nuclear industry both domestically and abroad which gave them opportunities to live in various states. In 1999 Tony helped launch Cumberland Consulting, a nuclear consulting company from which he proudly retired in 2014.

Together, they raised two wonderful sons. It was clear to everyone that Tony’s family was the most important treasure in his life, his legacy. He was most content sporting one of his signature Hawaiian shirts with a cold drink in his koozie while watching his six grandchildren enjoy the backyard pool, and he seemed to have no greater joy than watching them play at various sporting events. He and Lee loved hosting family and friends for fun gatherings; a particular favorite was an annual low-country boil.

Throughout the years Tony enjoyed woodworking, brewing beer, and using his wood smoker for some of the best BBQ around.

Friends and family will fondly remember Tony whenever they hear a Jimmy Buffett song or an animated Fox News commentator discussing world events. Friends knew if they needed something--a tool, a giant cooler, a random gadget, or an opinion, Tony was always eager to share.

He is survived by his wife, Lee, children Austin (Emily Brunner), Jared (Jana Blair), grandchildren Blair, Brady, Baker, John Paul, Ava, and Gregory Dobbs, his step-mother, Jessie Dobbs Brannon, sisters Stephanie (Marcus) Keith, Gina (Chad) Tabor, and Angie (Brent) Arnold, and numerous extended family members and close friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tommy Ray.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Wounded Warrior Fund, Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, or a first responder organization of choice.

A graveside service for Tony will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, 5351 TN-153, Chattanooga, TN 37343.
