James retired from Candlewick Yarns and was a member of Omega Harvest Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pre Nellie Mooneyhan Hickman and Andy H. Hickman; two sisters, Cora and Martha and one brother, Robert Hickman.
James is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Freda Willene Hickman; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Jan Hickman; daughter, Bridgette Yvonne Hutchinson; grandchildren, Samantha, Candice, Thomas J. King and Christopher Trey Hutchinson; sisters, June Jones and Linda Hamby and her husband David.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga for their wonderful care given to James.
A memorial service will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, December 12, at Omega Harvest Church, 4904 Dayton Blvd., Chattanooga, TN.
The family has asked that no flowers be delivered to the church or home and only contributions to Hospice of Chattanooga in memorial on James.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
