

He was a member of the Red Bank United Methodist Church and a retiree of TVA where he served in a number of positions. He attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and graduated from the University of Chattanooga and University of Pennsylvania. He served 3 1/2 years in the U.S. Army during World War ll, including service in the battles of the Mediterranean and the Rhine.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Marguerite and James Polk McMahon, son James Douglas McMahon, and his wife of almost 70 years, Betty Grace McMahon.
Survivors include daughters Betty Lynn Carter (Jack), Savannah, GA, and Regina Starr Wilson and son James Henry McMahon (Karen). Grand children include Abigail Gravino (Jeff), Hannah Carter, Ross Wilson, Bryce Carroll-Coe, Brennan Parton (Brent), Kane McMahon and Ty McMahon.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 20, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Highway 153.
A private family graveside service will be held on Thursday at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
Pallbearers: Hank McMahon, Ross Wilson, Kane McMahon, Ty McMahon, Jack Carter, Jeff Gravino, Honorary, Bryce Carroll-Coe.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
