

He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on October 20, 1959 to Don and Charlotte Potter. He was a graduate of Hixson High School and attended Chattanooga State. While attending Hixson High, he was a proud member of the football team. For several years he loved coaching his son’s football and baseball teams.
Mike was a member of the local 175 in Chattanooga and worked with EPB for the last 8 years. Prior to that, he worked with his father-in-law helping to operate and manage a family owned business, Reeves Re-needling. Mike was a dedicated UT fan, loved boating, camping, and doing anything with his family. Mike was the epitome of selflessness. Mike never met a stranger, and he never hesitated to help anyone in any way that he could.
He was preceded in death by his father, Don Potter and mother-in-law, Barbara Voshell. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nancy Voshell Potter and two sons, Brad and Craig (Tasha Lewis), his mother, Charlotte McCormick(Tom), two brothers, Ronnie and Donnie (Darla), his twin sister Jan Kovacevich (Sam), father-in-law, Bill Voshell, brother-in-law, Bill Voshell Jr. (Susan), sister-in-law, Debbie Conaway (Randall), and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 3:00-7:00 pm at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home in Hixson, Tennessee, with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Doug Hawkins officiating. In lieu of flowers, any contributions may be made to McKamey Animal Shelter, 4500 North Access Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37415.
