
Jamie P. Alday, 89, of Chattanooga, died Sunday, February 3 at her home after a lengthy illness. Jamie was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on July 22, 1930. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Conde N. Alday, Jr.; daughter, Susan Alday Moser; parents, James E. Payne and Ernestine Cunningham Payne; brothers Samuel H. Payne and Woods Payne; and sister Barbara Cannon.
Survivors include daughters Judy (Brad) Stephens of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; and Kathy Alday of Ringgold, Georgia; sister, Pat (Lynn) Panter, sisters-in-law, Carolyn Payne and Jeannine Alday Grogg, all of Chattanooga; five grandchildren: Sara Moser and Adam Moser of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Mary Ann (Tony) Jessee of Hendersonville, Tennessee; Roy (Heather) Gateley of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; Ellie (Brian) Barnette of Cottontown, Tennessee; nine great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express thanks to the wonderful staff of Avalon Hospice, particularly Jackie, Lauren, and Ashley, for excellent care and attention.
A brief visitation will be held Saturday, February 22, 2020 beginning at 1 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 848 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37415. Interment will be held following the service at the Hamilton Memorial Gardens, 5401 Hwy 153, Hixson, Tennessee, 37343.
