

She was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing with the choir. She was a devoted homemaker and substitute teacher with the Hamilton County School System. She is a graduate of Red Bank High School, Class of 1956 where she was a majorette, member of The National Honor Society, and the Tri-Hi-Y. She attended classes at the University of Chattanooga and later on attended Chattanooga State. Her hobbies were embroidery, scrapbooking, devotional reading, and grandchildren.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, COL (R), Clay E. Aytes, Jr., her father, MG (R), Paul H. Jordan, her mother, Ada G. Jordan, her brothers, Robert Jordan and Perry Jordan, and stepdaughter-in-law, Dianne Rozzell Aytes.
Survivors include her son, I SG (R) Thomas Lee (Andrea) Carter, Jr., daughter, Amy Carter Hodges, step-son, Rusty Aytes, and grandchildren, Walter Perry Hodges, III, William Price Hodges, Hannah Nicole Carter, and Sophie Jordan Carter.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 5401 Highway 153 in Hixson. She will be buried with husband, Clay, in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends may honor Mrs. Aytes with contributions to Pet Placement Center in Red Bank.
