It is with deepest sadness that the family of Jay (James W) Parsons must announce his passing after a heart attack while on a family cruise in Cozumel, Mexico on January 3, 2019. Jay, a resident the Chattanooga area for 48 years, was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 10, 1943 and passed at the age of 75. A retiree of TVA, Jay filled his time by enjoying his family, model ship building, travel, music, photography, and numerous volunteer positions.
Jay will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Linda Moore Parsons, and his children and their spouses, Penny Jo and Roby Chaney of Lithia Springs, GA, John and Nancy Parsons of Hixson, TN, and Wade and Kate Parsons of Ooltewah, TN. His three grandchildren, Cooper, Caroline, and Tripp will profoundly miss their Papa. His loss will be mourned by his sister Sue Wells and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and cherished friends. Jay is preceded in passing by his parents, John Howard and Floreine Parsons who welcomed him with open arms.
Family and Friends will celebrate the life of Jay Parsons at Chattanooga Funeral Home’s North Chapel with visitation on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 6pm to 8pm, and a service on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 12:30pm.
Should family and friends desire, memorial contributions can be made in Jay’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
