Jean Turner Payton, age 88, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Crossville, Alabama on March 6, 1930 to Rev. Pat H. and Anna Lindsey Turner. She has lived her entire adult life in Chattanooga. She was a member of White Oak Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School Class. Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph H. Payton; beloved grandson, Brian Cook and her sister, Berneta McMahan. She is survived by her daughter and best friend, Beverly Boyers. Her grandchildren whom she adored, Courtney Pittard, Payton Pittard, Davis Pittard and special friend, John Streun. Numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 8 pm on Friday, June 29, 2018 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A Celebration of her life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday at White Oak Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Wilson officiating. Interment will be held at Chattanooga Memorial Park. A very heartfelt thank you to the team at Chattanooga Kidney Center in Red Bank for the loving care you gave to her the past two years. She loved all of you! And for those friends who selflessly drove her to dialysis, Alton and Dean Oliver, Shirley Topping, Ron and Marge Pasch, Sue Sanders and to Shelba Barrentine for the longtime friendship, visits and daily phone calls.
