He was born in Whitwell, TN, son of the late Jess A. and Aline Long.
Buck was a graduate of Whitwell High School and sang Tenor for the Happy Harmony Quartet for many years. He was a long time member of Delashmitt Road Baptist Church where he served as Head Deacon and was the former Choir Director. He was retired from Astro Turf Industries.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, George Long and Jerry Long.
Buck is survived by his loving wife, Lillian Collins Long; daughters, Paula Sewell and Susan (Kevin) Sheeron all of Hixson; four grandchildren, Derrick Sewell, Adrienne (Justin) Bailey, Summer Campbell and Blayne Lawson; three great grandchildren, Gunner Campbell, Kora Brown and Kasey Black Sheeron; a brother, Jim (Phyllis) Long and two sisters, Rhonda Long and Donna Long all of Marion County, TN.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 A.M. Friday, December 3 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until 8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist, North Chapel.
