Jimmy was born in Alpine, Tennessee and was a 1967 graduate of Livingston Academy in Livingston, Tennessee. He was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. Jimmy retired from Tennessee Valley Authority in 2004 with over 30 years of service. He was a member of Ooltewah United Methodist Church. Jimmy was an avid golfer and loved to play at Eagle Bluff and Brown Acres. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed restoring old cars.
He was preceded in death by his father, B. V. “Toby” Norris.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Mary Norris; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Philip Wilson; son, Anthony “Toby” Norris; grandchildren, Tad and Molly Wilson and Laney and Tate Norris; his mother, Alice Carmel Norris; brother, Robert Norris; sisters, Rassie Cantrell and Janie Faye Beaty and her husband Pastor David; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. EST, on Wednesday, January 18, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CST, on Friday, January 20, at Hall Funeral Home in Livingston, Tennessee. Services for Jimmy will follow at 1 p.m. on Friday, at the Hall Funeral Home, 2106 Cookeville Highway, Livingston, TN 38580 with Jimmy’s bother-in-law, Pastor David Beaty officiating.
Burial will follow the service in Green Hill Cemetery in Alpine, Tennessee.
