John was a graduate of Georgia Tech, class of 72’. He was an Atlanta Braves fan. John enjoyed collecting stamps, reading, and being in the outdoors. He was a Ham Radio enthusiast.
John is preceded in death by his parents John William and Anita Cummings.
John is survived by his sons Steven (Megumi) Cummings of Yokohama, Japan and David (Brie) Cummings of Alpharetta, Georgia; daughter Carolyn Cummings of Atlanta, Georgia; Grandchildren Elijah And Sara Cummings of Yokohama Japan; sister Joyce Tucker of Princeton New Jersey; brother Tom Cummings of Signal Mountain, Tennessee; Bucky the dog; and his friend Paulette Wright.
The family will receive friends on Friday May 31, 2013 from 6-8pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel.
Graveside service will be Saturday at 1 pm at Chattanooga Memorial Park with Rev. Joyce Cummings Tucker officiating.
