He was born on September 7, 1930 to the late James and Jane Milton. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie Milton, grandson, Peyton Freer, great-granddaughter, Alia Forgani, siblings, Donald, Oscar, Lester, Nellie Jones, Garland and Louis Milton.
John served in the Army during the Korean War and was a recipient of the purple heart medal and 2 bronze stars. He retired from TVA after working many years as a Pipefitter. John was an avid Vols fan. John loved to hunt and fish, his real passion however was gardening.
He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild. He will be greatly missed.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Elizabeth Close and Dr. Giang Nguyen for their loving care over the years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Joan Milton, children, Larry Milton, Mechelle (Tarek) Forgani, Lisa (Kenny) Freer, grandchildren, Amber, Zach and Hannah Forgani and Seth Freer, great- grandson, Maddox Freer, brother, Tillman Milton and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2018 in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
