John "JP" Patrick Shoup

John "JP" Patrick Shoup, a beloved and humorous soul, passed away on December 12, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on May 15, 1965, in Seaford, Delaware, JP was one of seven siblings raised in Hixson, Tennessee. He was the cherished son of John and Elizabeth Shoup.

A graduate of Hixson High School in 1983, JP was known for his loyalty on the football field. He continued his education at the University of Tennessee, where he graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science.

JP proudly served in the US Army from 1991 to 1999. During his service, he was stationed at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama, Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, and Fort Leavenworth in Kansas. His gentle nature and dedication were evident throughout his military career.

A resident of Hixson, Tennessee, JP was an avid fan of the UT Vols, Tennessee Titans, and Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed spending his leisure time immersed in video games, movies, politics, and military history.

JP is preceded in death by his parents, listed above; brother, Ryan F. Shoup; and sister, Pamela Worley.

Here to continue JPs legacy are his siblings, David L. Shoup, Jennifer (Mark) Bennett, Cynthia (Mike) Smith, and Russell I. Shoup; sister-in-law, Shara Shoup; brother-in-law, Roy Worley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be laid to rest with his mother at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with private services.
