

Joyce was born on January 17, 1937 in Jacksonville, Alabama, to the late James Eston Holley and Maoria Holley.
She spent her early childhood growing up next door to the boy who would become the love of her life. Both graduates of Jacksonville High School, he was the captain of the football team and she as head of the cheerleading squad, their story continued beyond those formative years. Joe Currie and Joyce Holley were married on July 2, 1954.
Following his service in the military, they traveled the country together before ultimately making their home in Chattanooga, where they built a life filled with love and lasting memories.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Currie; her daughter Holly Denise Turner; her parents; and her brother, Billy Holley.
Joyce is survived by her son, Randy Currie; her granddaughters, Brittany Dedmon, Jennifer Finnell and Ashley Pell; her grandson, Brandon Walker and Tyler Burt; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
A devoted member of Hixson First Baptist Church, Joyce worked in the daycare and was actively involved in her ladies’ Sunday school class. She found great joy in her church family, in caring for others and in spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM (Noon) Friday March 27, 2026 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Steven Granger, and Rev. Terry Shannon officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening March 26, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and on Friday from 10:00 AM until service time.
Joyce will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her strong faith, and the love she so freely gave to those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
