She was born June 29, 1929 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Oscar Franklin & Elsie Josie Carter.
She was the owner and operator of Terdon Restaurant for 28 years. She also owned Joy’s Cafe and Joy’s Boutique.
Mrs. Padgett was a member of Union Springs Baptist Church.
Her son, Donnie Holsomback and sister, Bessie Gravitt preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Padgett of Chattanooga; daughter, Teresa Emerson of Ellijay; stepsons Johnny Padgett of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Rick Padgett of Signal Mountain; stepdaughter, Lori Padgett of Hixson; grandson, Donald Lee DeSha of Chattanooga; and great-grandson, Paton Lee DeSha of Soddy Daisy.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 11, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Funeral Service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the North Chapel with Rev. Odell Broadway officiating.
Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
