She was born and raised in Logan, Ohio to the late Clifford and Rachel Yates. Kathyleen has been a resident of the Chattanooga area for the past 40 years. She was a longtime Restaurant Manager for several restaurants in the Chattanooga area. Kathyleen was a longtime member, and Sunday school teacher at Abba’s House in Hixson. Kathyleen was a licensed minister who volunteered every Tuesday at the Women’s Prison Ministry for 18 years, where she played the piano, sang and delivered a service. She made many friends during her years of ministry there. Kathyleen was a Godly person, who loved to sing play the piano, organ and the accordion. She wrote her own music and loved praising her Savior. She and her three brothers formed a music group called The Miracle Aires who produced three albums in the late 60’s and early 70’s. They loved to travel and praise the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her son, Tony Brian Wells; three brothers, Orville, Ted and Larry Yates; sister, Rachael Mae Green.
Kathyleen is survived by her two children, Victor (Cecile) Wells and Diane (“Bit”) Simmons; 6 grandchildren, Rob Wells, Rachele Marsh, Lisa Marsh, Nathan Marsh, Kristen Wells and Nick Wells; 8 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Wednesday, March 20, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Kathyleen’s life will follow at 1 pm on Wednesday at the North Chapel with Pastor Ron Phillips, Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow the services at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
