

Kitty Jean Edens, 85, of Chattanooga passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2010. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Col Billy G. Edens USAF (Ret.). Born on July 4th, Kitty and Billy grew up together in Tyronza, Arkansas and were high school sweethearts. They were married when he returned home from WWII and she was attending Indiana State Teachers College. Kitty embraced their life in the Air Force, moving from base to base throughout many states and foreign countries. She loved the lifestyle of travel and new cultural experiences. Kitty served in various roles of leadership to support Air Force wives while their husbands were frequently deployed. Kitty displayed a passion for service and was active in many facets of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Chattanooga where they have lived since 1974.
Billy and Kitty raised four children: Phyllis Edens Artz (John) of Dayton,OH; Michael Edens (Dawn) of Chattanooga; Nancy Edens Larimer (Michael) of Atlanta; and Scott Edens of Chattanooga. Kitty has two brothers, John Price (Betty) of Arizona and Harry Price of Virginia. She and Billy have eight beloved grandchildren: Francis Artz (Wendy), Susan Artz, Jennifer Edens Butler, Erin Edens, Jeff Larimer, Eden Larimer, Courtney Edens, and Stormy Edens; and three precious great-grandchildren: Shelby Butler, Hayden Butler, and Megan Artz. “Mom Kitty” will be greatly missed by those who were lucky enough to have known her or to have been loved by her.
Kitty is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Kitty Price of Chattanooga, her sisters Phyllis Gilbert of Chattanooga and Mary Pfister of Indiana, and her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Lynch Edens of Chattanooga.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 11th from 2-5 PM at Chattanooga Funeral Home, 5401 Hwy. 153, Hixson, TN. Funeral service will be held Monday, April 12th, 11:30 AM at Chattanooga Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
