Lafayette “Buzz” Turner Prigmore III passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 21, 2022. Buzz grew up in Chattanooga, graduated from McCallie School and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Burks United Methodist Church and his career included working at Blue Bird Bus Company and Astec Industries.
Buzz will always be remembered for his bright smile, his sense of humor, his tender heart, and his genuine love of people. He rated everything in life on a scale from 1-10, food and meals especially. He was particularly good at making deviled eggs (a favorite of his children and grandchildren) which were most certainly a 10. An avid sports fan, Buzz had a true passion for UT football and could always be found in front of the TV during football season. We will fondly remember his love of junk food, frequently being late because of his long showers, and his enthusiastic encouragement for us to succeed. He had a strong faith and we are thankful he is now home with Jesus.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Susan Harner Prigmore, his 3 children, Shaun Prigmore (Caroline), Hadley Holcomb (Jason), and Preston Prigmore, his 4 grandchildren, Molly and Jackson Prigmore and Simon and Cora Holcomb, his sister, Marsha Conrad, and his brother, David Prigmore (Bonita).
Contributions in lieu of flowers: St Jude Children’s Hospital and Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
