November 2, 1944 – December 2, 2024
Lana Tsai Chen, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, at the age of 80. Born in Tainan, Taiwan, on November 2, 1944, she excelled in her studies, becoming a chemistry teacher at a teachers college in Taipei, Taiwan. She then immigrated to the United States in the late 1960s. She settled in Tennessee, where she completed graduate studies in chemistry and engineering at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, moving on to work at TVA and eventually to working for the family business in jewelry and real estate.
She was an active member of the Taiwanese community in Chattanooga, volunteering for youth groups, practicing Tai Chi and organizing family get-togethers and community events. She will be remembered for her kindness and positive spirit.
She is survived by her husband, Chun Hsiung; children, Irene (Herman) Chen, Linda Chen, and Paul (Rebecca) Chen; sister Telu and niece Rachel; grandchildren, Dylan Chen, Erin Chen, Nathan Chen-Ginzburg, and Owen Chen-Ginzburg.
On Saturday, February 15th there will be an interment service at 1PM, after which the family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00, at North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
