Larry S. Cate, 76, went home to be with his Lord Tuesday, June 18, 2019. He was born April 9, 1943 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Horace and Ruth Cate. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis Cate; brothers, Doug Cate and Wendell Cate; and a sister, Barbara Harrell.
He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. He was a dedicated Christian who loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus. He was a Ford car enthusiast.
Mr. Cate was the owner of Downey’s Auto Parts, and he worked for Marshall Mize Ford for several years after he retired.
Survivors include his children, Channon (Todd) Hamilton, Pam (Sean) Brannon, and Jonathan (Julieann) Cate; brother, Mike (Janie) Cate; sisters, Doris (Milton) Browne and Marilyn (Mike) Bevers; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 Thursday, June 20 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Reverend Eddie Ellison and Reverend Mike Combs officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-8 Wednesday and from 1-2 Thursday.
