Lawrence was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was a graduate of Red Bank High School.
Lawrence served our country during the Vietnam Era in the United States Army where he was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and the Purple Heart. He was a lifelong member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, chapter 203, lifelong Disabled American Veterans, chapter 6, the Wounded Warriors project. Lawrence had a deep passion for our country and family members serving in the military.
Lawrence attended White Oak Baptist Church. He loved to be around his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time at Camp Columbus, traveling and being with his grandkids. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Mae Boatner Shull; brother, Neal L. Shull, Jr.; mother, Mary Kathleen Thompson.
Lawrence is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Shull-Trewhitt (Jason); stepchildren, Bradley T. Wade and Angela Wade- Granger; grandchildren, Samantha Hays (Drew), Chad Archey (Kayla), Adam Granger (Sydney), Brooke and Austin Wade; great grandchildren, Jase and Ayden Hays; Braxton, Kingston and Oaklyn Archey; nephews, Lawrence and Marshall Shull.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, June 25 and from 11:30 until 12:00 pm (noon) on Friday, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Graveside services will follow at 12:30 pm on Friday, June 26, at National Cemetery with military honors and Pastor Tony Wilson officiating. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 203.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Lawrence’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project, or Tunnel to Towers, or the charity of choice in the obituary.
