

Leanne Polston passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018 at the age of 59. She was born on November 10, 1958. She attended Alpine Crest Elementary School, Red Bank Junior High School, and graduated from GPS in 1976. She attended Rhodes College in Memphis for two years and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She transferred to Vanderbilt University and graduated in the class of 1981 with a degree in Sociology.
Leanne worked for the State Department of Human Services in Nashville and retired under disability due to breast and lung cancer.
Leanne was a member of First Baptist Church, a member of the youth choir under the leadership of Jack Kay, a member of the Media Library Council, and served as a volunteer for several years.
Leanne was preceded in death by her grandparents, Porter and Pearl Polston in Kentucky and H.D. and Dora White in Cookeville, TN. Her mother, Maxine Polston, passed away in 2013. She is survived by her father, Russell Polston, and first cousins, Phillip Smith (Huntsville, AL), Carla Taylor (Asheville, NC), John Polston (Tompkinsville, KY), and Allen Dale Polston, Keith Polston, and Terrie Wayne Polston (all in Owensboro, KY).
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 8th at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Hixson with Reverend Don Givens leading the service. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. A tape of her mother’s music will start 20 minutes before Leanne’s service. A private family entombment will follow.
The Media Library Council of First Baptist Church and the caregivers near the end of her life will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family deeply appreciates Jenna Ryan, caregiver with Alexian Brothers Live at Home Program, for her help during Leanne’s illness. The family also appreciates Barbara Bates, owner of Home Comfort, for providing excellent sitters for Leanna during her battle with cancer
It is suggested that any donations in memory of Leanne be made to the Maxine Polston Scholarship Fund at First Baptist Church, 401 Gateway Avenue.
