Lester Virgil Stephens Jr.

Virgil was a graduate of Kirkman High School and retired from Combustion Engineering after over 30 years. He was a member of Calvary Independent Baptist Church. Virgil was a loving husband, father, papaw, brother and uncle and just enjoyed being with his family and friends. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved the outdoors and enjoyed mowing his yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Sylvia Stephens.

Virgil is survived by his loving wife of over 70 years, Mildred Shortt Stephens; children, Nick Stephens, Denise Dodd and Robin (Robert) Wilson; grandchildren, Lori Dodd, Paula (Chad) Uren, Stacy (Dustin) Karas, and Leslie (Mike) McDade; great grandchildren, Alexis and Hayden McDade, Brittany Higdon, Grayson Bailey, and Gabby Morrison; siblings, Betty Dawson, Liz Combs, Leo Stephens, and Hazel Aviles; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12 pm (noon) until 2 pm on Friday, May 23, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Services for Virgil will follow at 2 pm on Friday at the North Chapel with Pastor Don Kelley officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
