Lila was born in Fyffe, Alabama and was a longtime resident of the North Chattanooga and Hixson area. She was of the Church of God faith, was an avid gospel music lover and enjoyed singing in a gospel trio. Lila was a dedicated homemaker, mother and mamaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Everett Grant Eldridge; daughter, Judy Eldridge Flemister; parents, Vernon and Linnie Nance of Fyffe, Alabama and siblings, Jerome and Herman Nance and Lucille Morris.
Lila is survived by her children, DeLinda (Lavon) Chandler, Danny (Ruby) Bell and James (Donna) Eldridge; grandchildren, Timothy (Amy) Chandler, Trena Chandler, Andrea (Jared) Gregory, Taylor and Sarah Eldridge and Carl (Missy) Flemister; two great grandchildren; brother, Chester (Jean) Nance; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm on Saturday, February 15 and again on Sunday, from 12 (noon) until 1 pm at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Services for Lila will be held at 1 pm on Sunday at the funeral home chapel with Reverend Joseph Ballanger and Reverend Jim Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
