Lola Mae Anderson

She was born on September 7, 1914, in Chevais, Alabama, to Joseph Oscar Ambrester and Cora Blanche Roberts Ambrester. She grew up in Ft. Payne, Alabama, and moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 1936 where she has lived the rest of her life.

Ms. Lola is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Roupe Anderson, and her son, John Daniel Anderson, Sr.

She is survived by her daughter, Mitzi Anderson Stewart (Chattanooga, TN) and her children, Sara (Paul) Miller (Dayton, TN) James (Angie) Stewart (Chattanooga, TN) and Philip (Danielle) Stewart (Rochester, NY); son, Ronald Eugene Anderson (Columbia, SC); and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Grant Anderson (Chattanooga, TN) and her children, Darla (Donnie) Potter (Ringgold, GA), John (Onice) Anderson, Jr. (Chattanooga, TN), Lori (Brian) Stamper (Franklin, TN), and Tim (Kelly) Anderson (Franklin, TN). She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson as well as a wonderful family of nieces and nephews.

Ms. Lola has been a believer in Christ all of her life but accepted the Lord as her Savior at the age of 16 at The Mill Church in Ft. Payne, AL. Her church memberships changed as her life changed. She became a member of East Lake Baptist Church, then Covenant Baptist Church and then moved her membership to GraceWorks Church as her home church. Ms. Lola passes on to her family a wonderful heritage of faith in Jesus Christ. She possessed a vitality that encouraged all who knew her, living a very active life until her last few months.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.

The family would like to acknowledge loving care given to Ms. Lola by her care giver, Anna Mitchell with Sitters, Etc., and also to the staff of Amedisys Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to GraceWorks Church, 6445 Lee Highway, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
